How would you spend your £3K ‘Baby Budget’?

Lullaby-Baby-Scans-(8)

Evening ladies,

On Monday, the government released a report suggesting that all women should have the right and opportunity to choose where they receive midwifery care from and who provides it. By allocating each pregnancy a budget of around £3000 (the average spent on an entire pregnancy journey), local health authorities hope to improve choice, empower women and reduce the number of adverse events that may occur throughout pregnancy and labour.

What would you ‘spend’ your budget on?

I’m not a cynic, and I don’t want to appear biased here but the report has been written by a High-ranking ex-Tory MP and successful business woman. The report calls for the privatisation of midwifery services so instead of going to a hospital for pregnancy related care, it would be like going to see your GP! Lovely in theory…but how will it all be paid for? The Guardian National newspaper has a good article summarising the changes bit.ly/guardian£3K but if you want to see what the REAL reasons are behind these changes click here and skip to annex C bit.ly/skiptoannexC.

I hope this has been informative and given you all a bit of food for thought 🙄

Happy Reading, Mwah x
